And yet thou canst see how those in whose hearts there is disease vie with one another for their good will, saying [to themselves], "We fear lest fortune turn against us." But God may well bring about good fortune [for the believers] or any [other] event of His own devising, whereupon those [waverers] will be smitten with remorse for the thoughts which they had secretly harboured within themselves
And thou seest those in whose heart is a disease race toward them, saying: We fear lest a change of fortune befall us. And it may happen that Allah will vouchsafe (unto thee) the victory, or a commandment from His presence. Then will they repent them of their secret thoughts
Those in whose hearts is a disease - thou seest how eagerly they run about amongst them, saying: "We do fear lest a change of fortune bring us disaster." Ah! perhaps Allah will give (thee) victory, or a decision according to His will. Then will they repent of the thoughts which they secretly harboured in their hearts
But you will see those in whose hearts is a disease hastening towards them, saying: We fear lest a calamity should befall us; but it may be that Allah will bring the victory or a punish ment from Himself, so that they shall be regretting on account of what they hid in their souls
You will see those whose minds are diseased hastening towards them, saying, We fear lest a misfortune befall us. But God may well bring about victory or make a decision which is favourable to you. Then they will repent of the thoughts, which they secretly harboured in their hearts
And thou hast seen those who in their hearts is a sickness. They compete with one another. They say: We dread that a turn of fortune should light on us. Then, perhaps God brings a victory or a command from Him? Then, they will become —from what they kept secret within themselves—ones who are remorseful.
You will see those in whose hearts there lurks malice dashing in among them saying: "We dread lest a turn of fortune strike us!" Perhaps God will bring some victory or command from Himself, so some morning they will awaken regretful about what they have concealed within themselves.
You see those with sickness in their hearts racing for their guardianship, saying ˹in justification˺, “We fear a turn of fortune will strike us.” But perhaps Allah will bring about ˹your˺ victory or another favour by His command, and they will regret what they have hidden in their hearts.
You [Prophet] will see those with perverse hearts rushing to them and saying, "We are afraid that fortune may turn against us." God may bring about good fortune for the believers, or He may not. Then they will be overcome with remorse for the thoughts that they secretly harbored.
And you see those in whose hearts there is a disease (of hypocrisy), they hurry to them, saying: “We fear that a misfortune may befall us.” Perhaps that Allah brings a victory or a decision from His will, then they will become regretful on what they have concealed in themselves.
Yet thou seest those in whose hearts is a disease hastening to them, saying, “We fear lest a change of fortune should befall us.” It may be that God will grant victory, or a command from Him. And then they shall be remorseful for that which they secretly harbored in their souls
You will see those who have a disease in their hearts hurrying to them, saying: "We fear that a disaster will befall us!" Perhaps God will bring a victory or a decree from Himself, then they will become regretful over what they had kept hidden within themselves
yet you [Prophet] will see the perverse at heart rushing to them for protection, saying, ‘We are afraid fortune may turn against us.’ But God may well bring about a triumph or some other event of His own making: then they will rue the secrets they harboured in their hearts
Wherefore thou seest those in whose hearts is a disease hasten toward them saying: we fear lest there may befall us a reverse. But belike Allah may bring a victory or some affair from Himself; then they shall find themselves, for which they hide in their souls, remorseful
You will notice that those whose hearts are afflicted with sickness (of doubt) only hasten to join them and say: "We fear lest misfortune should surround us." It may well be that God may soon send (you) success, or other command of His. Then will they be repentant of what they had concealed in their hearts
Yet you see those with sickness in their hearts rushing to them, saying, ´We fear the wheel of fate may turn against us.´ But it may well be that Allah will bring about victory or some other contingency from Him. Then they will deeply regret their secret thoughts.
Yet you (O Messenger) see those, in whose hearts there is a sickness (that dries up the source of their spiritual life, extinguishes their power of understanding and corrupts their character), hastening towards them (to get their friendship and patronage) as if competing with one another, saying, "We fear lest a turn of fortune should befall us." But it may be that God will bring about (for the believers) victory or some other outcome of His own will (to punish those hypocrites or the wrongdoers whose friendship and patronage they seek). And then they will find themselves utterly regretful for the secrets they (as hypocrites) sought to keep hidden in their selves
Yet you see those in whose hearts is a sickness rushing to them, saying, ‘We fear lest a turn of fortune should visit us.’ Maybe Allah will bring about a victory, or a command from Him, and then they will be regretful for what they kept secret in their hearts
You will see those in whose heart is a disease runs about among them, saying, "We fear lest a reversal befall us." It may be that Allah will give you victory, or a commandment from Himself, and they may awake repenting of their secret thoughts
So you see the ones in whose hearts is sickness vie swiftly with one another among them. They say, "We are apprehensive lest a turn of (bad) fortune should afflict us." Yet it may be that Allah will come up with the conquest, or a Command from His Providence, so they will be remorseful for what they kept secret within themselves
(Muhammad), you have seen those whose hearts are sick, running around among the people (Jews) saying, "We are afraid of being struck by disaster." But if God were to grant you victory or some other favors, they would then regret for what they had been hiding in their souls
Now, you see those who have disease in their hearts race towards them saying, .We apprehend that some misfortune may overtake us. So, it is likely that Allah may bring victory or something else from His own side, whereupon they will become regretful over what they concealed in their hearts
You will see those who harbor doubt in their hearts running to them saying, "We fear that a change of fortune may befall us." But, Allah will bring you victory, or His Command will come to pass and they will regret what they harbored in their hearts
(And) those (people) in whose hearts is a disease— Do you see how eagerly they run about among themselves, saying: "We do fear that a change of fortune will bring us ruin." Oh! Perhaps Allah will give you victory, or a decision according to His Will, then they will feel sorry for the thoughts that they secretly kept in their hearts
So you see those in whose hearts is disease hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us." But perhaps Allah will bring conquest or a decision from Him, and they will become, over what they have been concealing within themselves, regretful
You see that those who have the disease of hypocrisy in their hearts move around in their camp saying: "We fear lest a turn of fortune strike us." But soon when Allah gives you victory or a decision according to His will, they will regret for what they are hiding in their hearts

Yet, you will see that those with disease (of doubt) in their heart would (always) rush to (befriend) them. They say, "We are concerned that the fortunes will change and a disaster will strike us." But perhaps Allah will grant you victory, or grant you another favor by His grace. Then, these people would feel sorry for the secrets they hold within their hearts

And you will see those, in whose hearts is a disease, to be active in their company. They say, "We fear a turn of fortune afflicting us." And it may well be that Allah will bring about victory or such event, by His Will, that they become ashamed of their secret feelings

You see those [hypocrites] who suffer from the disease [of doubt] are always around them (Jews & Christians.) They say: “In case we (the Muslims) are defeated [then we will have a safe harbor.]” What if God gives you a victory or shower you with His blessings? How can they hide their shame of being hypocrites in that case

Now, you will see those in whose hearts is a disease run towards the Jews and Christians saying, 'We fear lest a misfortune befall us'. Then it' is near that Allah may bring a, victory, or any Commandment from Himself, then they will remain regretting on what they had concealed in their hearts.
Now you shall see those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) vying one with another towards them (- the Jews and Christians to take them for allies). They say, `We are afraid lest a misfortune should befall us.' But it is well nigh that Allah will bring about a victory or some other (more remarkable) event (in favour of Islam) from Himself; then they will become more remorseful (and ashamed) for what they secretly harboured in their minds
So you will see those whose hearts are diseased (with hypocrisy and minds infected with slavery) that they run to (join the Jews and the Christians and) say: ‘We fear lest the wheel of fate should turn against us (i.e., it is likely to get under the security umbrella by allying with them).’ But it is not far from possible that Allah (really) blesses (the Muslims) with victory or may (send) from His side a decree (as a sign of success and victory). Then they will feel ashamed of (the hypocritical thinking) they have concealed in their hearts
And you see those in whose hearts there is a disease (of hypocrisy), they hurry to their friendship, saying: "We fear lest some misfortune of a disaster may befall us." Perhaps Allah may bring a victory or a decision according to His Will. Then they will become regretful for what they have been keeping as a secret in themselves
Yet thou seest those in whose hearts is sickness vying with one another to come to them, saying, 'We fear lest a turn of fortune should smite us.' But it may be that God will bring the victory, or some commandment from Him, and then they will find themselves, for that they kept secret within them, remorseful
Thou wilt see those in whose hearts is a sickness vieing with them; they say, 'We fear lest there befall us a reverse.' It may be God will give the victory, or an order from Himself, and they may awake repenting of what they thought in secret to themselves

So shalt thou see the diseased at heart speed away to them, and say, "We fear lest a change of fortune befall us." But haply God will of himself bring about some victory or event of His own ordering: then soon will they repent them of their secret imaginings
You see the faint-hearted hastening to woo them. They say: ‘We fear lest a change of fortune should befall us.‘ But it may well be that when God grants victory or makes known His will, they will regret their secret plans

You will see those devoid of healthy thought (the hypocrites) saying, “We fear that things may turn against us” and hasten towards them (the Jews and the Christians)... Perhaps Allah will bring clarity or a verdict from Himself (HU) and they will become regretful over what they have been harboring within themselves.

May Allah make victory sit on your helm O Muslims or take matters of fact and circumstance them after His own manner; there and then shall the hypocrites be really sorry and pained at heart for having succumbed to their evil thoughts
So you see those in whose hearts is a disease, hastening towards them (for friendship) saying, "We fear lest a change of fortune should befall us." But perhaps Allah will bestow (you) with victory or (send some other) commandment from His presence, then they will become regretters over that which they had hidden in their souls (minds).
